我简单介绍一些春节相关的英文用语

Spring Festival is the most important Chinese traditional festival and the biggest celebration around the world.春节是我们中国最重要的传统节日也是全世界最大的庆典。

春节正式名称：Spring Festival

还可以说：Chinese New Year中国新年

Lunar New Year 农历新年

日历

说到这，我们不得不说一下日历，因为我们的传统节日是基于我们自己的历法-农历

日历英文是：calendar日历

因为农历是中国自己的历法，所以英语我们可以说Chinese calendar

正式的名称是 Lunar calendar 阴历

Lunar月亮的，因为阴历是根据月亮的运行规律制定的

那相对应的现在世界通用的历法阳历就是：

solar calendar阳历 solar 太阳的

阳历正式名称：Gregorian Calendar 格里高利历，公历，阳历

因为这个历法是1582年，时任罗马教皇的格里高利十三世予以批准，颁布施行

农历日期的说法

因为是不同的历法，我们就不能用January，February这些词来说日期了，那农历的日期怎么说？整体的套路就是用“第几个农历月的第几天”来表达农历日期

比如我们的新年是农历1月1日，英文就可以说：the first day of the first lunar month

元宵节是农历1月15日，英文表达就是：the fifteenth (day) of the first lunar month

我们中国有12生肖

生肖英文就是Chinese zodiac 生肖 zodiac有属相，星座的意思，

农历明年是猪年，英语可以说The year of pig/boar猪年 boar野猪

如果你是属猪的就可以直接说：I'm a pig.

当然如果你怕别人误解，或觉得不好听，也可以这样说：

I was born in the year of pig.我是猪年出生的

如果恰好是你本的命年，可以加一句：This is my year.

So what do we do for the New Year celebration? 庆祝新年，我们会做什么呢？

1 Family getting together 家人团聚

No matter where you are, most people will go back home to spend the holiday with their family, some even travel long distances to be reunited with their loved ones.无论你身在何处，大多数人都会回家和家人一起过节，有些人甚至会长途跋涉才能与亲人团聚

2 Giving the house a thorough cleaning before New Year's Day 新年前给屋子来个大扫除

In the first few days of the New Year, we're not supposed to do any cleaning. Cause if we do, it is believed that we would sweep away the good luck.

Other than reunion and celebration, there's another very important part-- eating. 除了团聚和庆祝，还有一个非常重要的部分，就是“吃”。

On New Year's Eve or New Year's Day, all family members will have a big meal together, we're gonna eat a lot of food.在除夕或初一，家里所有的人会一起吃一顿团圆饭，我们会吃很多事物。

The typical food would be dumplings. 典型的节日食物是饺子

In some places, they would put a coin in one of the dumplings, whoever in the family eats it will be considered the luckiest one and will have the best luck in the coming year.有些地方的习俗，他们会在其中一个饺子里放一枚硬币。家里谁吃到了它会被认为是最幸运的，在新的一年里会有最好的运气。

Besides dumplings, we'll also have all kinds of dishes, including fish, pork, chicken, beef, and various vegetables.

除了饺子，我们还会有各种各样的菜，包括鱼、猪肉、鸡肉、牛肉和各种蔬菜。

There is also one drink that plays an important role during this holiday, which is Baijiu, there is no specific word for it in English, we can just call it Baijiu, or white spirits/Chinese liquor to help foreign friends understand what it is.还有一种喝的在这个节日中扮演着重要的角色，那就是白酒。在英语中没有特定的单词对应。我们可以叫它Baijiu，或者White spirits/Chinese Liquor来帮助外国朋友了解它是什么。
